Course Benefits

Benefits for Self-Represented and Represented Litigants

People who choose to represent themselves in family court can benefit greatly from the course lessons on basic legal procedures, child support, finances and property, and the hearings process. This information is also useful for people who are represented by an attorney as they will be more knowledgeable about the options available to them.

Benefits for Courts & Clerks

The CoDE for Families course can help make family court more efficient by helping to prepare litigants on filling out court forms properly, encouraging alternative dispute resolution methods to avoid unnecessary hearings, and lets litigants know what to expect if they do decide to go to court.

Benefits for Marriage Therapists & Family Counselors

The CoDE for Families course gives therapists and counselors an alternative recommendation for clients who have worked hard to save their relationship, but nonetheless are seriously considering separation. Clients can use what they have learned in the course to make good decisions rather than harm their co-parenting relationship by arguing in court.

Benefits for Attorneys

Attorneys with clients who have taken the Code for Families course will have clients who are more knowledgeable about the legal process and are more likely to have more realistic goals and expectations regarding case outcomes.
